Certified Pension Trustee Program
The administration of a public pension fund is a very complex task. This four-part educational program is designed to increase a trustee’s basic knowledge of fiduciary responsibility, fundamentals of investing, funding and actuarial concepts, medical and disability issues, administration of pension
benefits, and legal and ethical issues. Illinois statutes hold the pension fund trustee to the standard of a "prudent expert", but give little direction how a trustee should obtain a fundamental understanding of important legal and administrative tasks. To meet these needs, IPPFA, an Association of Police and Fire Pension Funds, partnered with Northern Illinois University in 1999 to offer the public pension fund
TRUSTEE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.
IPPFA and NIU are currently scheduling modules for the next program. Learn from professionals that
have many years of experience in public pension fund administration and management. This 32-hour
program is broken down into (four) eight-hour modules, taught over a fourteen-week period.
The cost of the program is $650.00 per participant. Class size is limited; register as soon as possible. For more information, contact the IPPFA, 40 DuPage Court, Suite 304, Elgin IL 60120 or telephone
