Mary Anne Doherty

Photo of Mary Anne Doherty Mary Anne Doherty has been a police officer with the Hickory Hills Police Department since 1979. She served as secretary of the Hickory Hills Pension Board from 1981-84. She returned to the Board in 1995 and has served as president since. She was promoted to Sergeant in 1996 and assigned to Community Service. Mary Anne was the I-SEARCH coordinator in the early '80's, and is presently the DARE supervisor.

Sgt. Doherty felt that a female voice should be heard when she ran for the IPPFA Board of Directors in 1998. Mary Anne is married to Bill Doherty, a lieutenant on the Roberts Park Fire Department and they are raising three sons, ages 12, 15, and 23. Mary Anne's father and two of her five brothers are Chicago police officers.
